When planning and hiring entertainment like a DJ for such an outdoor event, consider a few things to make your event go easier. Here's D.H. Productions DJ's For All Occasion's quick check list for outdoor events like: Barbecue (BBQ or Barbie), picnic, get together, party or backyard weddings.

• Square Footage: The thought of many people in and out of your home may not fit your house structure. Example: Bathrooms are often near the bedrooms which is a private sanctuary and you may want to keep it that way. House cleaning and other things can play a role like the size of your home and does it have a garage?
• Parking: Where will they park? 
• Neighbors: Will the neighbors mind? Tip: First, inform them of the event and the times of the event and for Pete's sake INVITE THEM! (Who the heck is Pete anyway?!?!) Everyone loves to feel special!
• Noise: Most areas have some type of noise ordinance A.K.A. Nuisance Law, check with your local government agency or contact your local police so they don't send a S.W.A.T. team for a report of a large loud crowd gathering in your neighborhood.
• Weather: What if it rains? What if it's 90 plus degrees? What happens when it's hot during the day and cooler at night? Do you have a backup plan, like a garage, basement, tent, covered porch or deck that can handle all your guests comfortably?
• Cost: How much money will I need? You may cut your cost down considerably having it at home, but there are still expenses.
• Food: Will it be a covered dish, catered or both? As DJ's we have seen many combinations and heard many options on this subject. Much like a dollar / Bridal dance at a wedding it is in view of some asking anyone for anything is tacky, others feel it's a some price or contribution for a good time.
• Entertainment: To have entertainment or not? Horseshoes, quoits, a pool and radio is entertaining but only for a brief time. A DJ will be able to direct activities like games, contests and group dances instead of you trying to do several at a time. You want to enjoy the party, let the DJ handle it. Great music, fun activities and an enjoyable time for all.
• Space For The Entertainment: Where will the DJ set up? D.H. Productions is more than two (2) ipads size. We typically need about a four (4) foot by four (4) foot area without lights. This area is especially important to be under cover and not blocking entrances, steps, doorways or next to a bathroom.

• Pros: The expense is minimal, no limitations on the start and stop times of the event, a personal touch, control and the conveniences of home.
• Cons: The limitation of square footage, home privacy, parking, neighbors, noise, tents, food, space for the entertainment, and coverage for poor weather conditions.

D.H. Productions DJ's have performed at several wedding ceremonies and receptions at Hanover Township Lehigh County Canal Park it's a beautiful place to hold a wedding and we've seen it done right and we can say first hand it can be very elegant.

American Club Pavilion is where D.H. Productions DJ's have performed for Coplay Borough's National Night Out Event. It's a big place, perfect for all year round and the prices are great! You can see more pictures and prices on their website, just click the links above.

Pros: The elimination of square footage, home privacy, parking, neighbors, noise, tents, space for the entertainment. Cover, for poor weather conditions is also addressed to some degree (Pun not intended).

Cons: The expense grows, limitations on times, some have no electricity, loss of a personal touch, control, lugging and remembering everything, and the convenience of home.
